"Foster to adopt" is a process where an individual or family fosters a dog from our sanctuary with the intention of adopting the dog permanently if the foster experience goes well and the dog is a good fit for the household. The foster to adopt program is only for Sanctuary Dogs.
During the foster period, the foster family provides temporary care for the dog, which can include feeding, grooming, training, and socializing the dog. This gives the foster family an opportunity to get to know the dog better and assess whether the dog's personality, behavior, and needs are compatible with their lifestyle and home environment.

The dogs are in our sanctuary for a reason. At one point in time they were deemed un-adoptable. Some have been with us for years. Through time, love and patience their physical and emotional wounds of have been healed. For a lucky few it is time for them to find their forever homes.
This is a phrase we have heard often when our dogs are adopted. However a rescurer is not just an adopter of rescued animals. An animal rescuer is someone who takes on the responsibilities of other people, such as caring for pets whose owners abandon them, comforting and training animals to improve their behavior. A rescurer will take on an animal expecting the worst and working toward the best. They will take in dogs no one else wanted
You will have up to 30 days to decide if your foster dog is a fit for your home.
Save A Dog Rescue must also agree that the foster is well suited. S.A.D will help you through problems and issues you encounter. Before the end of 30 days a mutual decision will be made as if your home is the right fit.
SADR will provide anything you need for the dog including food and monthly Prevention. All dogs in our Foster to Adopt program are up to date on vaccines, in good health unless otherwise noted, and spayed , neutered and microchipped
If the foster and rescue agree that your foster dog is a great fit. We will move forward with finalizing the adoption by paying an adoption fee which will vary between $100-200 and signing an adoption agreement.
If you decide not to adopt after 30 Days in most cases we will require that the foster be returned to us.
No invisible fences, all fencing must solid and secure. Backyard fencing must be closed off to front yard and attached to side of the home in most cases. In some cases a 6' fence will be required. It will be noted on the description of each dog.
See the description of each dog for clarification. This does not mean that the dog is agressive, in most cases the dogs are skittish and scared. In some cases the dogs will require no children in the home. Read the dogs description for clarification.
Most sanctuary dogs will require lots of companionship. We will not adopt to people who work outside of the home 8 hours per day.
We will require vet records for current or previous dogs if you do not own a dog for the last two years. If your previous dog or current dog was not on heartworm prevention on a consistent basis you application will not be approved.
In most cases we will not approve your application if you have never owned a dog.
If you have any knowledge or experience in behaviorial training, leash walking skills, and general obedience, most sanctuary dogs will need this type of experience
All potential adopters must reside within 50 miles of Grovertown, Indiana
